The position is expected to perform experiments for new and optimized materials and formulations in the development of advanced batteries. The candidate is able to reliably implement the processes and is driven to achieve results. Hands-on experience in engineering works is a plus. The candidate must have experience with anode and cathode material electrode processing, its evaluation and its characterization.

Major Responsibilities:

The battery process technician must:  

  • Work in a team to develop and functionalize advanced battery materials

OneD is looking for an experienced Engineering Technician to work on CVD process and chemical process development and its related equipment for producing silicon composite nanomaterials.  This candidate will be responsible for implementing processes to enable larger scale production. The candidate should be able to think independently and is driven to achieve results. A track record of successful development and production experience (e.g. material processing, CVD processes) is a plus. Experience in both R&D and manufacturing organizations is desired. Candidate will work with a team of engineers, scientists and technicians to develop the overall process, with attention paid to performance, yield and economic benefits and advantages.

Major Responsibilities:

Provide engineering ownership for material processing and/or CVD processing who must:

  • Maintain and improve existing processes
  • Execute experiments to scale processes to higher volumes
  • Closely work with engineer(s) or technician(s) to implement processes

  • Assist with troubleshooting and repair of wet benches, and cleaning stations
  • Perform daily SPC (statistical process control) trend monitoring to identify/troubleshoot and implement proper actions are taken
  • Interface with development and supplier(s) to optimize equipment design
  • Optimize recipes to optimize yield and maximize throughput efficiency while minimizing down time
  • Set up and maintain FDC, SPC, and other systems for equipment troubleshooting
  • Track and verify wet bench systems down time, alarms and or facility requirements

  • Scope; phase1: Start up ML facility from empty building to initial 100kg/wk production between Feb 23 and Dec 23
  • Phase2: Safety, quality, security; prepare, design and implement all necessary measures to build a safe and clean ML facility incl. adherence to all standards, (local) regulations
  • Implement quality standards and iso9001 before and at start up. Facilitate audits and qualification by authorities
    Note; hazardous materials, gasses, silane, hydrogen in large quantities, hot material handling, KOH bath, dust, electricity
  • Secure the area, facilities building and materials, for improper access 4. Review facility and material, gas, waste flow and storage design with OneD engineering, subcontractor(s) to enable building adaptions, compartment set-up and facility construction, installation, hook up of equipment
  • Interface with engineering, construction contractors, equipment companies and subcontractors
  • Prepare and manage critical path actions from start till ramp-up including risk management with project management and implement timely reviews
  • Hire and set up local team of equipment engineering/maintenance experts, skilled pilot operations, quality, logistics, off line measurement lab and identify leader to run the operations in phase2
  • Set up local IT with equipment interfaces, SPC, and other (measurement) data storage in cloud, logistics and ERP
  • Identify work packages for technology and test transfer from Palo Alto to ML; transfer and validate by sign off the individual transfers

Process Development Engineer 

OneD is looking for the Process Development Engineer to support the material pilot-scale processes of our breakthrough and performance-proven silicon composite nanomaterials. The Process Development Engineer will work in a R&D and production technology development environment with a team of engineers, scientists, and technicians, to produce nanomaterials and its deposition on powder substrate. This individual will be responsible to develop smart process control for effective nano-material production, who is also able to realize the precise process implementation and independently think and is driven to achieve results. Fundamental understanding of nanomaterial chemical synthesis process and CVD process is a plus. It will be more attractive if having experiences on the solid-liquid mixing and separation.

Major Responsibilities: 

The responsible Process Development Engineer must:   

  • Fully understand and scale-up our existing processes. 
  • Design and execute experiments to successfully develop smart process control  
  • Enable continuous or semi-continuous synthesis. 
  • Closely collaborate with other scientists, engineer(s) or technician(s) to improve the processes.  
  • Present experimental results and project status at regular meetings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  •  Fundamental and Engineering knowledge of chemistry, material science, or CVD or solid-liquid mixing and separation systems, powder drying systems, and process control. 
  • Ability to anticipate and identify scale-up issues, troubleshoot and solve technical issues.
